Anti-Fraud Reminder from CNCB (Hong Kong) Capital Limited
Recently, there has been a surge in attacks perpetrated by fraudsters through forging hyperlinks in phishing mobile text messages for fraudulent purposes (known as SMS phishing). CNCB (Hong Kong) Capital Limited (hereinafter referred to as "our company") reminds clients and the public to be vigilant against the risks of unauthorized transactions.
To guard against phishing SMS messages, please take note of the following anti-fraud guidelines:
I. SMS Sender Registration System
- Our company has joined the "SMS Sender Registration System" and uses the registered sender name with the prefix "#", namely #CNCBHKCAP, to send one-way SMS messages to local mobile phone users, facilitating clients in to verify the identity of our SMS messages.
- Our company will not request clients to provide sensitive or confidential personal information through SMS links.
II. Never Click on Hyperlinks Randomly
- Our company will not ask clients to log in to the electronic trading platform for transactions via hyperlinks in SMS messages or emails, nor will we request clients to provide any sensitive or confidential personal information through such hyperlinks.
- Clients should never click on hyperlinks in any emails or SMS messages randomly and should properly safeguard their personal login information.
III. Never Provide Sensitive Personal Information
- Our company reiterates that we will not, under any circumstances, request sensitive personal information from clients, including but not limited to electronic trading platform account details, usernames, bank account numbers, login passwords, one-time passwords, or two-factor authentication passwords, via phone calls, phone recordings, emails, SMS messages, hyperlinks, QR codes, or attachments.
- There is a significant risk for clients who click on hyperlinks contained in fake SMS messages claiming to be sent by our company, which may lead to unauthorized transactions.
IV. Stay Alert and Guard Against Fraud
- Safeguard Personal Information: Please properly safeguard your personal information and electronic trading platform account details (including usernames, login passwords, one-time passwords, or two-factor authentication passwords, etc.) and never disclose such information to a third party.
- Download Apps from Official Channels: When logging in/trading via the electronic trading platform, clients should download the mobile application of the electronic trading platform from official app stores to connect to their electronic trading platform accounts.
- Avoid Clicking on Suspicious Messages: Never open emails, SMS messages, attachments, or hyperlinks from unknown sources, and do not download suspicious applications. If in doubt, please stop the operation immediately, do not enter any information, close the window, and promptly contact our company, providing relevant suspicious hyperlinks or screenshots (if any).
- Regularly Check Transaction Records: Frequently check transaction records through the electronic trading platform or monthly statements to detect any suspicious or unauthorized transactions.
- Promptly Respond to Suspicious Situations: If clients have provided information to suspected fake websites or encountered unauthorized transactions, please immediately call our company's customer service hotline at (852) 2905 3966 and report to the police.
- Verify Using Anti-Fraud Tools: In addition to verifying with designated institutions, public can also search on the Scameter and the mobile application Scameter+ to check whether a website, phone number, or email is likely fraudulent or not. It also alerts a user in real time if it detects the user trying to visit a potentially fraudulent website.
